The Worship Leader is responsible for planning and leading Christ-exulting worship on Sunday mornings and for other events as needed as well as conducting a weekly rehearsal. The Worship Leader will oversee the music and media teams.
Philosophy of Worship
Although we expect the individual in this position to have their own unique musical style and approach to worship, the following are important elements of Trinity’s philosophy of worship:
The purpose of music in a Christian worship service is to collectively declare God’s worth and give thanks to Him for who He is and what He has done and to encourage and admonish one another (Eph. 5:19-20, Col. 3:16). We believe the sound of our worship should primarily be the sound of the congregation singing together. Musical accompaniment serves its highest purpose when it encourages and supports the lifting of our voices in praise.
Songs, Hymns, and Spiritual Songs
Worship is a Spirit-led endeavor and the songs we sing should express Scriptural truth. Therefore, the content of songs of worship should honor God and encourage us to grow in grace, expressing our thankfulness to Him for our common salvation in Jesus Christ. These songs should also feature music and melodies that encourage congregational singing. Songs of this type have been written throughout the years and we favor a worship service that pulls from many time periods and traditions, from ancient hymns to the latest worship songs.
As the “lead worshipers” our music and media teams should pursue the excellence God and His church deserve. We also understand that these teams are made up of volunteers. We strive to offer our individual best while making a joyful noise to him! We do not see our time of worship together as a performance or as entertainment but rather an offering to God and a ministry to His people.
Compensation and Benefits
The Worship Leader will receive two Sundays time-off for vacation. Although not present to lead at these services, planning for them has traditionally been the Worship Leader’s responsibility. The Worship Leader has a budget for and receives two days off for professional development. The church is currently working on a sabbatical policy for which the Worship Leader would qualify.
Depending on experience and ability, the pay rage is from $18,000 - $24,000 per year to be negotiated during hiring.
