Our ideal pastoral candidate is passionate about the Word of God, faithful prayer and the leading of the Holy Spirit. Our pastor needs to feel the call to serve Groveland Evangelical Free Church and support our mission, vision, and values statements.
We are searching for a pastor who will be a strong advocate for prayer life in our church and have a passion to see people of all ages grow in maturity in Christ.
Our ideal pastor will have a high value for — and a solid relationship with — family and maintain a proper work and home life balance as described in 1 Timothy 3.
Our ideal pastor will be an enthusiastic, dynamic preacher and teacher of Biblical truths, focusing on life-applicable messages and encouraging a deeper relationship with Jesus. We seek a pastor with adequate pastoral training and experience to match our church's needs. We're looking for a pastor who has a commitment to life-long personal growth — intellectually, emotionally and spiritually — to grow in relationship with Christ.
A winning personality will help engage people of all ages who will find our pastor approachable and easy to get to know. For example, we seek a pastor with a good sense of humor (though not at the expense of others), who is humble, able to admit mistakes and ask for help. The ideal candidate will be a good listener who asks clarifying questions and provides good counsel. Combined, this expertise and ability to build strong relationships will be key to helping congregants grow in their walk with Christ.
Our church is blessed, and we use our gifts to support and serve our church and our neighbors, and effectively bring the message of the gospel to the people in our community. To assist us in this goal, our pastor should be a team leader with skills to effectively communicate, set goals, delegate and constructively encourage each task or project to completion.
Guiding the future of our church will require a pastor experienced in collaborating with Elders to establish the overall vision and ministry goals. We seek a pastor who will serve our church family and local community, which means being administratively organized, with the ability to effectively lead staff and promote a positive, respectful, working environment that includes accountability and reviews. Our ideal pastor will seek with a missionary’s heart to learn about the culture and build bridges with our mountain community. This will include visiting the sick and shut-ins, leading outreach programs and representing our church in the community. At times, our pastor may need to respectfully help others resolve conflicts and differences in a healthy, Biblical manner.
Importantly, we want to be inspired by someone who can dream dreams and encourage others to do the same.
