Job Description

The Pastor is the lead shepherd for meeting the spiritual needs of our congregation. He needs to be gifted in the expository preaching and teaching of God's Word in addition to being a strong communicator. He, along with the Elders and General Board members, provides leadership for the church.

Educational Requirement:

A minimum of a Master of Divinity degree from a Bible School or Seminary is preferred.

Ordination Requirement:

The candidate selected must be ordained by the EFCA or be willing and able to be ordained in the EFCA.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Preaching/teaching the Word of God on Sunday morning placing an emphasis on how a person can live out their Christian faith.
  • Providing biblical/spiritual counseling, as needed (professional counseling referred as appropriate).
  • As an Elder, the Pastor will meet regularly with the Elder and General Boards.
  • Living out through his own life the personal behavior standards set forth in I Timothy 3 and Titus 1.
  • Be familiar with the guidance provided in the church's constitution and by-laws.
  • Providing administrative leadership for the total church program.
  • Preparing for and leading worship services in conjunction with the Worship Team; leading in the observance of the ordinances; and, leading the church in proclaiming the gospel to the church and the community.
  • Leading the membership in a visitation program which includes visiting shut-ins and new attenders.
  • Performing wedding ceremonies and conducting funeral services.
  • Cooperating with and leading the church in its denomination affiliation with the Evangelical Free Church of America - EFCA (national) and the denomination's Central District (regional). Keeping the church informed of developments within the denomination.
  • Supporting and promoting discipleship within the church.
  • Other responsibilities or duties that may be assigned.
