Job Description
Working Relationships:
- The Worship Leader is hired to the position and is accountable to the Senior Pastor or his designee.
- The Worship Leader is to maintain a collaborative and collegial working relationship with the Senior Pastor and Staff.
- The Worship Leader is responsible to supervise all worship ministries and associated staff and volunteers.
General Responsibilities:
- Serve as a member of the ministry staff
a. Demonstrative ownership for and effectiveness in communicating and fulfilling the church’s vision, mission, focus, culture, statement of faith and doctrinal distinctive
b. Lead the congregation through modeling to participate in Sunday worship, to take the next step in discipleship, to cultivate a lifestyle of service and to reach out to the lost
c. Keep the congregation informed about worship through frequent communications - Collaborate with the staff
a. Participate in all staff gatherings and supervisory meetings
b. Coordinate all ministry activities with the staff and church calendar
c. Develop ministry plans, determine initiatives and set goals that are integrated with and advance the cause of the overall church
d. Monitor and give account for ministry budget, attendance, initiatives and goals
e. Serve as a worship consultant to other staff and ministries and be available to assist them in their worship needs - Serve as the leader of worship ministries
a. Keep Crossroads on the cutting edge and leading edge of worship in our region
b. Develop a clear focus for worship that reaches first and foremost those in their teens, 20s and 30s
c. Provide overall direction in the planning of congregational worship, including approval of music selection, order of worship, seasonal and special services and the coordination of elements such as communion, baptism, child dedication and ministry highlights in cooperation with the Senior Pastor
d. Oversee and approve all technical and creative aspects of worship and special events that utilize the worship center including sound, audio/visual, lights, art, video presentations, drama, banners and stage décor
e. Collaborate with the Senior Pastor and his preaching plan to provide the congregation with thematic worship experiences
f. Recruit, train and supervise volunteers to carry out the initiatives and goals of worship ministries
g. Build teams and maintain regular team meetings for the purpose of personal development and spiritual growth
h. Oversee Family Ministry worship teams
i. Develop youth and children worship leaders and musicians
Time Commitment: This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week, with compensation set by the church board.
Qualifications:
- Personal faith in Jesus Christ and an authentic lifestyle consistent with that faith
- Personal sense of calling to the position of worship leader
- Agreement with the Evangelical Free Church Statement of Faith
- Education and experience consistent with or complementary to the job description
- Verifiable spiritual gifts and skills in music, collaborative leadership, creativity, strategic thinking and team building
Success Factors:
- Willingness to work hard and the discipline to rest, reflect and renew
- Willingness to be accountable and transparent within the established organizational structure and to delegate ministry responsibilities to qualified individuals in order to maximize ministry impact
- Ability to work well with other staff and volunteer team members in a collaborative environment characterized by a loving, submissive, and teachable attitude toward one another
- Theology and personal convictions compatible with the existing church leadership
- Commitment to ongoing personal, professional and spiritual development
- Commitment to regular worship attendance and participation in churchwide activities
- Commitment to membership and participation in Crossroads Church with time, talent and treasure
