Part-Time Church Maintenance Person

Overview:

Cornerstone Evangelical Free Church in Glenview, Illinois is seeking a dedicated and responsible maintenance person to join our team. This part-time position plays a vital role in ensuring the upkeep and functionality of our church facilities to create a welcoming environment for our congregation and visitors.

Position Type: Part-Time
Hours: 20-25 hours per week
Hourly Rate: $25 per hour

Responsibilities:

• General Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks to ensure the cleanliness, safety and functionality of the church building and grounds.
• Repairs: Address minor repairs and maintenance issues promptly. Coordinate with external contractors for major repairs when necessary.
• Groundskeeping: Oversee and coordinate work of the church grounds, including lawn care, snow removal and seasonal landscaping with vendors.
• Cleaning: Maintain the cleaning of various areas, including restrooms, common areas and classrooms.
• Supplies Management: Monitor and manage supplies, such as cleaning materials and basic maintenance tools, ensuring they are adequately stocked.
• Event Support: Assist in setting up and tearing down weekly church events, meetings and gatherings as needed.
• Safety Compliance: Ensure that the church facilities meet safety standards and address any safety concerns promptly.
• Inventory Control: Keep an inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment, reporting any needs for restocking to church leadership.
• Communication: Communicate effectively with church staff, volunteers and leadership regarding maintenance needs, schedules and priorities.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in maintenance or a related field is preferred.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
• Physical ability to perform tasks related to maintenance and groundskeeping.
• A commitment to the values and mission of Cornerstone Evangelical Free Church.
• Internally motivated by the Holy Spirit to see the ministries of the church flourish for the glory of God and the growth of Christ’s kingdom.
• Has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a commitment to serving and honoring Him through this ministry.
• Works well in a team environment, has a teachable spirit and constantly looks for ways to improve this role: 1% week-over-week improvement/refinement of role.
• Prioritizes the service of church members and visitors through this ministry.
• Sees the importance of this ministry and seeks to develop, enhance and grow it
• Readiness to adapt to expanded aspects of role as needed and requested by elders.
