WILLING TO BECOME A MEMBER OF RIVER CITY CHURCH
This is not a requirement for being on the worship team but it is for being a worship leader. That’s because the more visible you are as a leader in the church, the more important it is that you’ve formally committed yourself to the vision and mission of the church as well as coming under the leadership and direction of the elders.
CHARACTERIZED BY HUMILITY, TEACHABILITY AND A DESIRE TO LEARN
A qualified candidate should have an attitude and posture of humility and teachability in their relationship with their supervisor. They should not only desire to lead others, but should eagerly desire to be led.
CHARACTERIZED BY LEADING WITH GENTLENESS AND RESPECT
Volunteers on the worship team should, in general, actually enjoy being led by you. Certainly there are extreme examples where a volunteer doesn't want to be led by anyone, which is certainly a problem. But generally, if you’re leading with authentic character that’s shaped by the gospel then everyone will likely have a life-giving experience on the team because you’re treating them with gentleness and respect.
CHARACTERIZED BY CONSISTENCY AND RESPONSIBILITY
No one is perfect, and we certainly don’t expect you to be flawless. However, a qualified candidate needs to be willing and able to be the most prepared person on the team, meet deadlines throughout the week and communicate in a timely manner with their supervisor and volunteers.
POSSESSES THE NECESSARY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE TO EFFECTIVELY LEAD MUSICAL WORSHIP
We’re not expecting candidates to be professional musicians, but they need to be sufficiently skilled and experienced to lead the church in musical worship. A qualified candidate will be able to lead vocally as well as instrumentally from guitar and/or piano.
