Expected Time Commitment: 10-20 hours weekly

Background:

The Groups Director serves the church by managing and overseeing the community groups and segment groups ministry of the church. He or she will work with the staff and elders to develop the vision and the strategies for the "groups" ministry. He or she will be responsible for the recruitment, training and coaching of group leaders and oversee and coach a team to accomplish this. The groups director will organize and manage volunteer teams as needed. His or her responsibilities will revolve around organizing, communicating, training and coaching.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the Grow ministry—Community Groups, Segment Groups (Men’s, Women’s, Senior’s, etc.), Bethel Equip.
  • Recruit, equip and train group leaders.
  • Help group leaders identify, prepare and coach assistant group leaders to launch new groups.
  • Oversee and work in collaboration with the staff and elders to develop the framework, structures and strategies by which the community groups function.
  • Regularly (at least quarterly) meet with and coach community groups and segment groups leaders. Provide a yearly review to the leaders and strategize for individual group success and multiplication.
  • Provide relevant documents to lead pastor/elders.
  • Develop a simple outline and discussion questions for community groups leaders based on weekly sermons.
  • Work with lead pastor to provide direction for curricula for segment ministry groups and to confirm (with the assistance of the lead pastor and/or elders) the suitability of curricula.
  • Attend staff meetings (as able).
  • Coordinate teachers for (and possibly teach) Bethel Equip classes.

Provided Training/Resources:

  • Monthly coaching check-ins with lead-pastor.
  • Church-wide leadership training events as announced.
  • Ongoing education through conferences, schooling and/or other informal means, such as reading and discussing books, to develop theological, musical and leadership skills.
  • Personal laptop for BCC use.
