Position: Full Time
Accountable to: Youth Pastor
Responsible for: Middle school youth ministry and collaboration with all family ministry

OUR VISION

To glorify God by making disciples of Jesus who live out passion for Christ and compassion for people. It is expected that the Associate Youth Pastor will operate the middle school youth ministry within this vision.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Teaching pastor for Middle School students (6-8 grade).

  • Choose a portion of scripture to preach faithfully through each year during youth group. This aspect of the ministry will be developed over time.
  • Create/send out small group questions to small group leaders in advance of youth group.
  • Teach middle school Sunday school weekly.

Oversee middle school ministry

  • Responsible for all middle school details regarding our weekly youth group nights including: hangout time before youth group, Wednesday night meal, announcements, games, teaching, assist with closing and securing the church.
  • Be the point person for escalated questions, concerns and issues from parents/youth/volunteers.
  • Overseer middle school Sunday school in coordination with the youth pastor, recruiting Sunday school teachers and training them.
  • Work with the youth pastor in maintaining the student ministries budget.
  • Develop an assimilation process for incoming 5th-graders into youth group.
  • Work with youth pastor in planning and execution of summer youth group.

Equip small group leaders

  • Recruit gifted volunteers to become small group leaders for youth group and train them.
  • Keep small group leaders accountable for investing time with students within and outside of youth ministry programming.
  • Support and encourage volunteers on a regular basis.

Parent Communications

  • Develop resources to effectively encourage parents to disciple their students at home (e.g. family worship ideas, milestone celebrations, etc.).
  • Regularly be in communication with parents about the happenings of Calvary youth, including contributing to the weekly family ministry parent email.
  • Develop a team to manage all Calvary youth social media platforms.

Calvary Youth Events

  • Oversee and plan for our annual middle school fall retreat.
  • Coordinate with the youth pastor taking students to annual apologetic conference.
  • Oversee and plan for middle school mission trip.
  • Work in coordination with youth pastor for youth and outreach events including student and leader recruitment, finances, supplies, transportation, waiver forms, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s in biblical and theological studies or similar degree program is preferred.
  • 2-3 years of experience working or volunteering in youth ministry settings.

Lifestyle

  • Personal, growing and mature relationship with Jesus Christ, demonstrating a consistent lifestyle and biblical integrity. This is a pastor/elder position, so the candidate must be a man who meets the qualifications of an elder from 1 Tim.3 and Titus 1.
  • Willingness to admit when help is needed and mature enough to ask.
  • Demonstrates a humble and teachable attitude.
  • Agree with our Statement of Faith, Mission, Five Core Values, Constitution, and Bylaws.

Giftedness and abilities

  • Teach God’s Word in an accurate, compelling and age-specific manner.
  • Demonstrates an ability to relate with people of all ages (youth and adults).
  • Ability to recruit, train and supervise qualified youth volunteers.
  • Must be a reliable self-starter, delegator, natural leader and team player.
  • Ability to take direction and receive feedback.
  • Relationally strong and recognizes the importance of people over programs.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.

Hours, Salary, and Reporting

The associate youth pastor role is a full-time position (40+ hours/week). These hours will be distributed throughout the week, using the Calvary’s work hour policy. Starting salary range: $55,000-60,000 per year (based on experience) plus full benefits. The Associate YP reports to the youth pastor.
