Job Description
Overview
The Westside Church Worship Leader plays a crucial role in leading the congregation in worship through music and other forms of artistic expression. This individual collaborates with the pastoral staff to create an atmosphere of worship that aligns with Westside Church's mission and values.
Key Responsibilities
• Worship Planning and Coordination: Plan, organize, and lead worship services, ensuring that all elements contribute to a cohesive and inspiring worship experience. This includes selecting songs, recruiting, training and coordinating musicians and vocalists, and integrating other forms of worship such as prayer and scripture reading. He will plan worship projects and department goals including an annual budget for approval by the Westside Church Board.
• Musical Leadership: Lead the congregation in worship through music, either by singing, playing an instrument, or directing a choir. Ensure that all musical elements are performed with excellence and in a manner that enhances the worship of the Lord. He will maintain and update all worship equipment/instruments as needed.
• Rehearsals: Schedule and lead regular rehearsals for musicians and vocalists. Provide guidance and support to develop their skills and ensure they are prepared for each service.
• Collaboration: Work closely with the senior pastor, Elders and church volunteers to ensure that worship services align with the overall vision and theme of Westside Church. Participate in regular staff meetings and planning sessions.
• Technical Oversight: Schedule, coordinate and train the sound / media team volunteers to ensure that all technical aspects of the worship service, such as sound, lighting, and multimedia, are prepared prior to the service and are executed smoothly. Coordinate and oversee all post-service audio and video productions are created and posted with the highest quality (e.g., Facebook, YouTube, website, Podcasts, etc.)
• Special Services and Events: Plan and lead worship for special services and events such as Advent/ Christmas, Lent/ Easter, weddings, funerals, summer picnics, movie nights, etc.
Qualifications

Faith and Character:
- He must be a devoted follower of Christ and become an active member of Westside Church.
- His personal attributes should include a positive attitude, a heart of a servant, a heart that is fun/enjoyable, a heart that is loyal/honoring, and a heart for the Great Commission.
- He must be a worshiper (Jn. 4) who senses the call of God to use his gifts to lead others in worship.
- He must possess a godly, and faithful character that exemplifies the Spirit filled walk of a child of God and be Biblically sound and meet the requirements found in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9.
- He must have a desire to pastor and equip as seen in Ephesians 4:11-13.
- He should be a teacher, ministering to the musical and spiritual needs of the Body of Christ, and be capable of presenting a well-rounded, balanced approach to music and the arts in public worship.
- He must have a presence in the life of the church in addition to the worship ministry.

Musical Skills:
- He shall be a well-trained musician, who has experience and appreciation for both the traditional and more contemporary forms of worship (Col. 3:16; Eph 5:19)
- He must be able to play an instrument (namely, guitar or piano) and sing simultaneously so that he can lead congregational singing by himself if need be.
- He must be a skilled vocalist and musician with a strong commitment to musical excellence.

Leadership:
- Strong leadership and organizational skills. Ability to inspire and lead others in worship.
- He must be relational, teachable, passionate in his leadership, and dedicated to shepherding and developing others.
- He will introduce new songs often (Psalm 33:3).
- He must be able to provide pastoral care and administrative duties.
- He must be able to lead a small group.
- He must be open to coaching and mentoring under the senior pastor in other areas of pastoral ministry, such as leadership, visitation, and preaching.

Communication:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with Elders, staff, musicians, volunteers and congregation members. -
Technical Knowledge:
- Basic understanding of sound and media equipment used in worship settings.
- He must demonstrate an ability to learn new software/technology and utilize it appropriately.
- He must have proficiency in Word, Excel, Power Point, ProPresenter, and Ecamm Live.

Experience:
Previous experience in leading worship is preferred. Familiarity with various styles of worship music. -
Education:
A degree in music, theology, or a related field is preferred but not required. -
Preaching:
A willingness and ability to fill the pulpit on Sunday morning or other services is preferred but not required.
Hours and Work Environment
This is a part-time, salaried position. The worship leader is expected to work approximately 20-30 hours per week, including all scheduled worship services or events (e.g., weddings, funerals, etc.). The Westside Church Worship Leader will typically work in the church facility.
