Youth Pastor

Position Overview:

Our Youth Pastor will be someone who is passionate about making and multiplying disciples within our student ministry, which fits into the overall vision and mission of the church. Our youth pastor will be part of our pastoral staff team, seeking to implement this vision but with a focus on pastoring and shepherding middle and high school students and helping to train leaders and equip parents in the disciplemaking process.

Key Verse:
• Colossians 1:28, 29 - He is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ. To this end, I strenuously contend with all the energy Christ so powerfully works in me.

• 2 Timothy 3:15 - How from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Overseeing and coordinating the Parkview youth ministry by teaching, equipping, casting ministry vision and implementing Christ-centered curriculum and programs. This occurs primarily at weekly youth group, as well as coordinated Sunday morning youth programming and small group discipleship opportunities.
• Challenging students to take the next step in following Christ and helping them build a foundation upon God’s Word as they make their faith their own. This includes creating opportunities for students to know Christ, understand the gospel and teaching them to communicate it to others (friends, schools, places of work, community, missions trips, etc).
• Identifying and establishing meaningful conferences, retreats, missions trips and fellowship events for students to grow in Christ, deepen relationship with other students and have opportunities to reach out and invite unbelieving friends.
• Recruiting, training and maintaining our youth leadership team who assist in teaching and mentoring students on a regular basis. This team includes students leaders and volunteers.
• Partnering with parents in the discipling and spiritual development of their children, including parent information meetings and regular communication.
• Overseeing all youth ministry budget items and organizing any necessary fund-raising for missions trips, conferences, etc.
• Periodically preaching/teaching on Sunday mornings as agreed upon by the pastoral team.

Qualifications:

• Believer in Christ meeting the qualifications of an elder (1 Tim 3:1-7; Titus 1:6-7).
• If married, having a wife and family committed to Christ and a call to ministry.
• Demonstrated commitment and experience in teaching and discipling youth.
• In agreement with the EFCA Statement of Faith and Parkview’s mission/vision.
• Licensed or willing to be licensed/ordained within the EFCA.
• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a ministry related field or equivalent experience.
• Team player who likes to work collaboratively with others and takes initiative in leadership.
