Senior Pastor
Job Description
The Senior Pastor leads Lake Community Church in fulfilling its mission to reach people for Christ (Great Commission) and build people in Christ (Great Commandment). He fosters a culture of discipleship, encouraging the congregation to grow and multiply. In partnership with the elders, he seeks God’s direction to fulfill LCC’s role in reaching the lost and making disciples locally and globally. As the primary preacher and teacher, he promotes living out the Great Commission and Great Commandment.
He oversees all pastoral and administrative staff and ensures the vision, mission, objectives and values of the church are effectively implemented across ministries and administrative and financial operations.
Qualifications and Gifting:
• Character: Has a personal testimony of salvation and meets the biblical standards in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9.
• Education/Training: Master’s degree from an evangelical seminary (preferred); ordination or eligibility for ordination with the Evangelical Free Church of America; five years of ministry experience.
• Preaching/Teaching: Strong skills in expository preaching; committed to disciplemaking as the church’s mission.
• Leadership/Shepherding: Capable of leading, mentoring and equipping staff and congregation for ministry work.
• Humility: Demonstrates a teachable and accountable spirit.
• Prayer: Prioritizes prayer as foundational for personal faith and ministry effectiveness with staff, leaders, missionaries and congregants.
• Evangelism: Dedicated to both local and global missions.
• Alignment: Agrees with the constitution and bylaws of Lake Community Church
Job Responsibilities and Performance Expectations:
• Lead and inspire discipleship (Great Commandment work): Lead a discipleship pathway that enlists seekers and attendees to grow spiritually and disciple others.
• Drive evangelistic outreach (Great Commission work): Equip the congregation to engage in evangelism locally and globally, creating and embracing opportunities to seek and save the lost.
• Provide spiritual leadership: Serve as the spiritual leader and primary voice for the elders, staff and congregation; oversee member care in both celebrations and crises; lead ministry team leaders in unity toward our mission and vision; continuously point the church towards our vision; and engage in ongoing personal spiritual growth.
• Operational and financial oversight: Be the primary advocate for the church’s operational and financial needs.
• Preach and teach: Deliver practical, life-applicable sermons and teachings; plan and coordinate worship services and special events; ensure a well-structured preaching schedule including guest speakers.
• Set and achieve goals: Collaborate with elders to identify and complete Great Commission assignments; align all ministries and programs with strategic and operational plans.
Position Relationships:
• Accountability: Reports to the elders, who delegate to him the oversight of operational and administrative leadership responsibilities.
• Staff management: Oversees and manages pastoral and administrative staff, conducting regular meetings, performance reviews, goal setting and conflict resolution.
• Ministry coordination: Manages and supervises ministry team leaders, ensuring effective operation of church ministries.
Nature of the position: Exempt, full-time with benefits.

Lake Community Church, an Evangelical Free Church, is seeking a gifted senior pastor who will be the primary leader, preacher, teacher and shepherd of the congregation. We are a congregation of about 225 in weekly attendance, located in a charming community nestled in the heart of Minnesota's picturesque lake country. We are praying for someone God has called to lead, equip and walk with us into the next chapter of fruitful ministry.
