Pastor of Student Ministries
Job Description
PRIMARY PURPOSE
The Student Ministries Pastor oversees all ministry to children and students of Harvest Church, ranging from birth thru high school. The student ministry pastor directly reports to the executive pastor.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Nurtures a personal, consistent, and growing relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.
• Displays a character that is above reproach.
• Does not forsake the ministry of his family for the ministry of the church.
• Provides Christ-like servant leadership in the home, as evidenced in his wife and children.
• Demonstrates a teachable and gentle spirit befitting a mature servant of Jesus Christ.
• Is motivated by the Holy Spirit’s love, not by power, position or possessions.
• Desires to build loving relationships both inside and outside the church.
• Exhibits the courage to preach the truth with grace and reason (I Peter 3:15-16).
CHILDREN AND STUDENT MINISTRY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for providing leadership and vision in planning, conducting and evaluating a comprehensive Education ministry for our children and students.
• Develop comprehensive strategy for discipleship of our children and students.
• Serve as a resource for our nursery ministry coordinator.
• Recruit, develop and oversee Harvest Children's ministry team leaders.
• Recruit, develop and oversee Harvest student ministry team leaders.
• Actively lead weekly student ministries and events.
• Serve as the main biblical teacher for our students.
• Oversee the Sunday morning education hour.
• Plan, coordinate and oversee a comprehensive budget for the children’s and student ministry.
• Build relationships with students and their families in order to minister to them.
• Help students identify their gifts and empower them to serve at Harvest.
GENERAL HARVEST RESPONSIBILITIES
• Attend weekly staff meetings.
• Strengthen preaching skills and preach in service as requested by pastor teacher.
• Serve in weekly worship services as requested.
• Along with pastoral staff and elders, support, encourage, uplift, visit and help those in need
in our church.
COMPENSATION
This is considered a full-time, salaried ministry position.
The salary and benefit package is as follows:
• Annual salary (to be determined).
• A portion of the salary may be designated as housing allowance.
• Four weeks vacation per calendar year.
• A professional expense account.
