Part-Time Worship Leader

PURPOSE OF POSITION

To support the vision, mission and values of the worship ministry at Fox Valley Church by partnering with the worship pastor in leading Spirit-filled worship services, cultivating volunteers and contributing to a healthy ministry culture.

EXPECTATIONS

To be a Christ-follower who has a hunger to grow spiritually and has a background in music and experience in a worship ministry. 

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES

• Partner with the worship pastor to create and sustain a healthy worship ministry 
• Collaborate on setting and reviewing measurable ministry goals quarterly 
• Help grow the church in Spirit-led encounters and outward expression 
• Co-lead quarterly gatherings for worship ministry volunteers 
• Lead worship weekly in designated space (usually the gym) 
• Schedule worship volunteers in the gym (one month in advance) 
• Help with additional services when available (funerals, BTT, Lent, Christmas, etc.) 
• Plan worship sets approximately once per month using Planning Center Online (PCO) and Prime 
• Edit and adapt service flow weekly from the worship center PCO to gym PCO 
• Identify and develop worship volunteers to serve on rotation 

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

• Reports to worship pastor 
• Collaborates with the technical director 
• Coordinates with other ministry staff 
• Communicates regularly with worship volunteers

Leadership — Able to lead enthusiastic praise with spiritual sensitivity to the Holy Spirit’s leading 
Musicianship — Strong vocals required; instrument proficiency preferred 
Communication — Able to communicate biblical truth clearly to the congregation and maintain open dialogue with team members 
Team Player — Demonstrates flexibility, humility and a collaborative spirit 
Humility — Others-oriented with a heart to build up the Body of Christ 

TIME REQUIRED

• Sunday morning leading: 5 hours 
• Thursday evening rehearsals: 1.5-2 hours 
• Connect with worship pastor weekly: 1.5 hours 
• Planning Center and Prime (click tracks): 2-3 hours 
• Additional preparation and planning time: varies 

CHURCH INVOLVEMENT EXPECTATION

Because we desire this to be more than a job, our hope is that the worship leader considers Fox Valley Church their home church. We ask that the worship leader and family (if applicable) be regularly involved in the life of the church, including participation in a life group and attending Sunday services beyond their leadership responsibilities. We believe ministry flows best from spiritual community and belonging.
