Job Description

Reports to: Worship Director and Senior Pastor
Term: 6 months (September – February)
Time Commitment: 10 – 15 hours/week, including Sunday services and midweek rehearsals
Compensation: This is a paid internship, with a stipend in the range of $3,000 - $4,000. Final compensation will be determined based on the candidate’s experience and project scope.

Necessary Qualifications

  1. A genuine, growing faith in Jesus Christ
  2. Agreement with the Prairie Hill Church Statement of Faith
  3. Strong relational skills, able to work respectfully and effectively with people of all ages
  4. An effective team player, who works with a servant attitude
  5. Excellent communication skills, displayed through public speaking, personal conversation and written communication
  6. Detail-oriented, organized and punctual
  7. A passion for seeing Jesus Christ known and worshiped through Scripture, song, and prayer
  8. Demonstrated competence in musical performance: vocals and either acoustic guitar or piano/keyboard
  9. Ability to organize and lead a team of musicians
  10. Ability to plan and lead a Gospel-centered worship service

Position Summary:

The Worship Intern will assist in leading the worship services at Prairie Hill Church. Training given by the Worship Director will focus on spiritual formation, musical development, and leadership development. Over six months, the intern will progress from observation to co-leadership, culminating in independently leading worship services.

Internship Phases:
Month 1 (September 2025) – Observe & Learn

  1. Attend weekly worship services and rehearsals at Prairie Hill Church
  2. Shadow the Worship Director in planning, rehearsing, and leading
  3. Begin serving as a worship team member
  4. Learn the church’s worship philosophy, musical standards, and team culture
  5. Participate in devotional and team-building moments

Month 2 (October 2025) – Co-Lead & Assist

  1. Assist in song selection and service planning
  2. Co-lead worship services with the Worship Director
  3. Receive feedback from the Worship Director on musical leadership
  4. Work with the Worship Director on worship band scheduling for October 2025 – January 2026.
  5. Assist in managing the lighting and slides software (Propresenter)
  6. Assist in managing the weekly set up of the sound board and audio/visual equipment (in-ears, microphones, instrument cables, etc.)

Months 3 – 6 (November 2025 – February 2026) – Lead & Grow

  1. Plan corporate worship services in consultation with the Senior Pastor (the Worship Director will be on maternity leave for the majority of this time period).
  2. Set up the stage, sound board, click tracks, pads, and in-ears for Sunday morning worship.
  3. Lead music/worship at rehearsals and corporate worship services of Prairie Hill Church (at least 12 of the 15 worship services that occur between November 2025 and January 2026)
  4. Co-lead at least 3 of the 4 worship sets with the Worship Director in February 2026.
  5. Communicate clearly with production and pastoral teams
  6. Continue to grow in musical, technical, and pastoral leadership
  7. Attend monthly staff meetings
  8. Partner with the tech team in managing the lighting and slides software (Propresenter)
  9. Partner with the sound/tech team in managing the weekly set up of the sound board and audio/visual equipment (in-ears, microphones, instrument cables, etc.)

Hiring Summary

The right candidate will have a high level of skill in vocal performance and musicianship, strong relational skills, and excellent communication displayed through public speaking, personal conversation and written communication. Candidates must be committed to a team-approach to ministry, as well as biblical and gospel-centered worship. We desire a Gospel partner who loves worship and will humbly serve Prairie Hill Church.
