Job Description
About the Director:
Hope Fellowship Church is looking for an energetic, Christ-centered leader who desires all children (infant – 5th grade) to come to a saving knowledge of Christ and grow in their relationship with Him. The Children’s Ministry Director will oversee and implement programs to nurture the spiritual development of the children in our church and create a welcoming and engaging environment in which children can learn and grow in their faith. The director is a team player who can build relationships with children, parents and adult leaders, and will lead the ministering team to a gospel-centered vision for the ministry. The director is accountable to the lead pastor of Hope Fellowship Church. This position is full-time.
Qualifications:
- A strong personal faith and commitment to live out biblical values
- A minimum of two years working within a children’s ministry or educational setting – bonus if experience includes working with children with special needs
- Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate teaching methods
- A self-starter with strong leadership, administrative, communication and interpersonal skills
- Agreement with the Statement of Faith, Mission and Values of Hope Fellowship Church
General Responsibilities:
- Participate in the life and ministry of Hope Fellowship Church and build relationships with others within the congregation.
- Coordinate and cooperate with staff and ministry leaders in the various functions and programs of the church.
Children’s Ministry Responsibilities (Nursery – Grade 5)
- Formulate, submit and administer a budget for the children’s ministry.
- Select and implement age-appropriate curriculum and programming and ensure that teachers are adequately resourced and prepared.
- Identify, recruit and develop volunteers to assist with various areas of children’s ministry, ensuring that sufficient support is available during ministry activities.
- Oversee the purchase, distribution and use of all equipment and supplies (curriculum, craft supplies, etc.)
- Create a schedule for the children’s ministry team to ensure that weekly and monthly volunteer positions are kept accurate in our ChMS (Planning Center).
- Ensure everything is ready for a smooth check-in and excellent ministry on Sunday mornings.
- Willingness to fill in on Sunday mornings for the children’s ministry when other volunteers are out.
- Plan and execute additional events for children and families within our church, as well as community outreach/service events to reach families in our area. Examples might include VBS, Parents’ Night Out, Picnic Fellowships, Fall festivals and Christmas Outreach among others. These events should be scheduled regularly throughout the year to connect families and for outreach opportunities
- Work alongside staff and other team leaders to plan and promote parenting seminars.
- Develop and oversee safety policies to ensure a safe and secure environment for children during all ministry activities, including maintaining current background checks for all volunteers.
- Build relationships with the parents of children within our church, enabling clear communication of ministry events and updates and supporting them in their role as disciplemakers of their children. Examples include planning and hosting parenting seminars, incorporating periodic family service projects and providing necessary tools and resources for family discipleship.
- Coordinate with the volunteer leaders of the Wednesday night children’s ministry programs to ensure they have everything needed.
