Job Description
Purpose:
To teach, shepherd and lead the church family.
Description:
- To devote priority to prayer and through study of the Scriptures.
- To lead and direct the teaching ministry in all worship services.
- To lead the church towards fulfillment of its purpose and vision.
- To guide, feed, and care for the spiritual needs of the congregation.
- To provide advice and counsel to lay leadership.
Qualifications:
- A clear testimony of faith in Jesus and a vital, growing personal relationship with Him.
- Meet the qualifications of an elder as described in 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:6-9 and 1 Peter 5:1-3.
- Be a man of prayer, exhibiting a teachable spirit, a servant’s heart and demonstrating the fruit of the Spirit in his life.
- Know his spiritual gift(s) and faithfully exercise them in ministry.
- Be in full accord with the Grace Community Church and EFCA Statement of Faith, become a member and diligently work with the organizational structure of the church.
- Understanding of (or willingness to learn) the local Hispanic culture.
- Exhibits good communication and organizational skills.
Education and Experience:
- B.A. from an accredited college or university in biblical studies or Christian ministries required. Masters degree preferred.
- Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish.
- Possesses or is willing to obtain EFCA ordination certification.
- Participate in EFCA training opportunities related to position responsibilities.
- A minimum of five years ministry experience is preferred.

Grace Church is an Evangelical Free Church in America (EFCA) located in Wasco, California. The church has excellent facilities for the expansion and addition of ministries. The church has a long history of serving the extended rural areas and growing communities that are appropriately 25 miles northwest of Bakersfield. The City of Wasco has a population of over 27,000, with more than 87% being Hispanic or Latino. A large portion of the Hispanic population is second- or third-generation citizens.
