Kids Ministry Director
Job Description
The Kids Ministry Director will assist the family ministry director in shaping the overall strategy and health of family ministries, as well as the implementation of all discipleship environments for children from birth through 5th grade.
Responsibilities:
• Recruit, train and schedule Sunday morning and Wednesday night volunteers for the work of kids ministry discipleship.
• Provide care, support and direction for families exploring child dedication and baptism opportunities.
• Identify, greet and guide new families engaging in kids ministry at Liberty Chesterton.
• Oversee, support and develop the elementary coordinator and the early childhood coordinator.
• Assist the family ministry director in the selection and implementation of curriculum and training materials for kids ministry.
• Lead Liberty’s annual summer vacation Bible school (VBS) programming.
• Enforce and update child safety procedures in collaboration with the family ministry director and the vulnerable persons team.
• Oversee childcare coordination for Chesterton campus and Liberty events, including mid-week programming (e.g. MomCo) and annual events (e.g. Christmas Eve, congregational meeting).
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Character:
• A follower of Jesus — pursuing Jesus and His promise that in Him we have life to the full (John 10:10).
• Clear call and conviction to serve in the context of the local church.
• A desire to lead and serve people in the way of Jesus in both individual conversation and in team leadership.
• 5+ years experience in children's ministry or equivalent.
• Proven ability to lead large volunteers and staff.
• Proven ability to interact with and teach kids.
Accountability
• The kids ministry director will report to the family ministry director. Salary and benefits commensurate for this position’s requirements are based upon a 40 hour/week position.
