Job Description

GENERAL OVERVIEW

The youth pastor position is a full-time position responsible for the leadership, coordination and implementation of youth ministry programming that encourages faith formation and development primarily in the lives of the youth. The youth pastor will focus their time and energy on connecting with and discipling students, developing leaders, leading outreach and service projects, along with supporting the ministry through administrative tasks and reporting back to the lead pastor.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee youth ministry weekly gatherings, leading and training up leaders to:
    • Teach age-appropriate Bible-based lessons
    • Teach and guide in discussion groups based on the lessons
    • Worship through song
    • Run games and activities to create a sense of community and belonging
    • Service projects on a quarterly basis minimum
    • Youth outreach events
    • Fellowship events
  • Identify and train up youth leaders to join in the work of the youth ministry
  • Build relationships with students and their families by cultivating personal and appropriate relationships with youth and adults within the congregation
  • Provide weekly communication to parents and students on gatherings and upcoming events
  • Maintain consistent office hours
  • Financially, if applicable, to be within the budget guidelines or below
    • Keeping track of receipts and invoices
    • Submitting receipts and invoice vouchers for approval
    • Tracking the office, travel and ministry budget and expenses
  • Participate in staff meetings and staff prayer times throughout each month
  • Willingness to participate in the life of the church outside of youth programming

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Active and growing faith in Jesus Christ
  • Heart for youth ministry and the maturity to lead students in spiritual growth
  • Ability to articulate clear and consistent theology
  • Passage of background check

  • Ability to relate to and connect with students (6th-12th grades) with energy, enthusiasm and excitement
  • Organization, time management, attention to detail, self-management
