Job Description

The Pastoral Residency is a full-time, two-year program designed to provide immersive, hands-on ministry experience and intentional leadership development to prepare emerging leaders for long-term pastoral ministry.

This program offers a robust combination of theological training, missional engagement, practical application and mentorship to prepare the resident for a lifetime of faithful pastoral ministry. While the residency provides broad exposure to diverse facets of church ministry, there is a specific emphasis on preaching, teaching, leadership development, evangelism and discipleship.

The residency is intended to be a formative season of growth, allowing the resident to refine their calling, deepen their spiritual maturity, and develop the competencies required to lead a local church effectively.

About this Church

LifeSpring Community Church in Spring Grove, Illinois, is an autonomous church affiliated with the EFCA. From its beginning, LifeSpring has sought to be a Christ-centered community where faith is formed through worship, discipleship and shared life together. While committed to engaging the surrounding community, the heart of LifeSpring’s ministry is equipping people to follow Jesus faithfully in every area of life.

LifeSpring is guided by a team of elders who meet regularly to pray, provide spiritual oversight, give strategic direction for the church’s mission and faithfully shepherd the congregation. The elders work closely with a dedicated staff team that includes the lead pastor, associate pastor, discipleship catalyst, worship leader, children’s ministry director, small groups director, youth group director, and director of women’s ministry and connections. Together, they oversee the teaching, discipleship and care ministries of the church.

In addition to elders and staff, LifeSpring depends on numerous committed lay leaders who serve by leading groups, coordinating ministries and planning events.

The church’s vision is to make disciples who make disciples and to plant churches that will plant churches, trusting God to produce lasting spiritual fruit through faithful leadership and intentional disciplemaking.
