Associate Pastor

Qualifications

• Possess the qualities of a shepherd/pastor as laid out in 1 Timothy 3:1-7
• In agreement with the EFCA Statement of Faith
• In agreement with the bylaws of City on a Hill Church
• Able to train and lead volunteers in a variety of ministry settings
• Self motivated to begin and finish what has been assigned
• Adept with current technology, as needed to accomplish responsibilities
• Recent, prior church ministry experience is important
• Thrives in a team ministry environment

Responsibilities to include:

• Shepherd roles within our existing ministries
• Assist with visitation of attenders/members
• Meet personally with CityGroup Leaders
• Evaluate current CityGroup strategy, create and implement revisions to future CityGroup strategy, as determined necessary by leadership
• Provide leadership input with other existing ministries as directed

Preaching and Teaching

• Team prepare and preach with lead pastor and other leaders
• Assist with the facilitating and teaching of our Element series

Sunday Mornings

• Attend weekly Sunday morning services and assist with up front leadership of services
• Participate in the weekly set up and tear down as needed
• Assist and lead ministry teams that serve on Sunday mornings

Administration

• Attend regular staff meetings
• Attend regular leadership team meetings
• Attend elder meetings when necessary
• Attend church wide meetings and assist as needed

Expectations

• Model the life of a mature disciple of Jesus
• Maintain confidentiality and healthy boundaries
• Be visible, approachable and relational within the congregation
• Work collaboratively with church staff and volunteers
• Align fully with the mission, values and doctrine of the church
• Become a member of City on a Hill Church

The position of associate pastor is full time. The details of each responsibility area will be determined prior to the start of this position and will be evaluated in an on-going way. Special attention will be given to create an appropriate ministry fit, considering personal skills, giftedness and experience with a team approach to our shared ministry. A final determination of the salary package will be determined by the elder team.
