Job Description

Position overview:
The Worship Leader will manage the music ministry, plan weekly worship and special events, oversee technical production, train musicians, and support youth and children’s music.

Core Responsibilities

Worship Leadership & Planning:

• Plan and lead weekly worship in collaboration with the Senior Pastor.
• Lead weekly rehearsals and upload sound/audio cues.
• Blend theologically rich contemporary songs with traditional hymns, balancing artistic excellence with engaging, substance-driven worship.
• Oversee worship-related technical production, including ProPresenter and audio/visual elements.

Spiritual & Relational Leadership:

• Disciple, mentor, and encourage worship team members.
• Engage meaningfully with our multigenerational congregation.
• Foster unity, healthy relationships, and spiritual growth within the worship ministry.
• Recruit, equip, and develop musicians, vocalists, and lay leaders.
• Identify and encourage musical gifts within the congregation.

Event & Ministry Support

• Provide musical leadership for special services and church events.
• Coordinate and support music for youth and children’s ministries, VBS, retreats, conferences, and other church gatherings as needed.

Qualifications & Requirements

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a growing relationship with Christ and lead with humility, wisdom, integrity, and a heart for serving others.
Candidates should have:
• Previous worship-leading and ministry experience.
• Strong musical ability and knowledge of music theory and performance.
• Ability to lead musicians with varying levels of musical training and experience.
• Experience with worship technology and presentation software, including ProPresenter.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred:
• Degree or formal training in music.
• Biblical or theological education or ministry training.

Depending on the candidate's gifts, experience, and pastoral qualifications, additional ministry opportunities may include teaching, preaching, shepherding, or other areas of church ministry.

About this Church

Parkview Evangelical Free Church is located in Rapid City, South Dakota. We are the main city in the Black Hills region, near to Mount Rushmore and Custer State Park. We are surrounded by the Black Hills National Forest which provides lots of hiking trails and outdoor activities. We are a church of 500-600, located in the southwest part of Rapid City. We are a multigenerational church, with a vibrant children's program, youth group, college ministry and discipleship program. Our worship services utilize a contemporary style, incorporating both modern worship music and traditional hymns. We typically average between 6 - 10 people on our worship and AV team each Sunday. Our desire as a church is to be "Transformed by Christ, and Invested in others."
