Director of Student Ministries
Job Description
To provide leadership and oversight for the Rooted (Junior High and High School) students that fosters spiritual transformation, maturity and growth of these students in support of the mission of North Suburban Church.
Hours: 20 hrs./week (negotiable)
Scope of Work:
With a demonstrable passion for the Lord and for student ministry, this individual will:
1) Represent student ministry to the staff, elders and the congregation
2) Engage in recruitment, training and supervision for all student ministry volunteers
3) Provide ongoing discipleship of Junior High and High School students
4) Develop and implement a ministry plan based upon the church’s mission and vision
5) Plan and schedule weekly student gatherings, monthly events and occasional joint church events (ProjectShare, FMSC Mobile Pack, Rooted Sunday Takeover, etc.).
6) Plan, prepare and communicate biblical teaching and/or small group bible study curriculum for group gatherings
7) Provide timely communication with students, parents and the congregation with regard to ministry events, expectations, opportunities and/or reports
8) Work with the director of children’s ministries to facilitate a successful welcome of incoming sixth graders
9) Present a proposed annual budget for the student ministries and manage the approved budget
10) Work on special events/projects at the discretion of the associate pastor
Qualifications:
1) Commitment to personal discipleship in Word and prayer
2) Bachelor’s degree required (but no specific field of education)
3) Previous ministry experience preferred
4) Agreement, support and alignment with the church’s statement of faith, constitution, by-laws, policies and employee handbook
5) Able to demonstrate abilities and giftedness to meet and perform job description scope of work
Accountability: Reports to Associate Pastor
Remuneration: Salaried with paid vacation leave
