Job Description

The Associate Pastor of Student Ministry will—under the direction of the lead pastor—oversee the development and day-to-day ministry of students (and families) in our Faith Church and Lakeland area community.

QUALIFICATIONS

● A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ
● Consistent spiritual and moral character and lifestyle, fulfilling the biblical qualifications described in 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:7-9 and 1 Peter 5:1-4
● Agreement with the by-laws, statement of faith and constitution of Faith Evangelical Free Church and the EFCA
● Be qualified and open to seeking licensing/ordination with the EFCA
● Competent in organization, administration and interpersonal relationships
● Gifted and growing in Bible teaching and preaching, especially in a student ministry context
● Have experience recruiting, leading and evaluating volunteer staff

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Job duties include, but are not limited to:
● Oversight of student ministry (6-12th grades), including being the primary teacher, recruiting and training leaders, developing and carrying out vision, and giving spiritual direction to assist families in discipling their students
● Work in collaboration with the children’s ministry team, whether that is on events/calendar, communication with families or the overall vision of ministry to students
● Through effective communication, work in partnership with parents to promote healthy, biblical-minded families
● Equip God’s people—including and especially students—for ministry
● Develop and implement a young adults' ministry within the first year of hire
● Assist on the preaching team (approximately 8-12 times/year)
● Assist as needed for worship services
● Conduct general pastoral care and counseling as needed
● Officiate weddings, funerals, baptisms, communion and baby dedications as needed
● Provide a written report of student ministries at annual meetings
● Represent the church to the community (ie, FCA at LUHS, local school, or group involvement)
● Pursue ongoing personal, spiritual and professional growth through times of retreat,
networking with fellow pastors for accountability, encouragement, prayer and attending
conferences/seminars that are related to the ministry
● Participate in elder meetings

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS/EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor's degree recommended
• 3+ years of church service and/or previous pastoral experience preferred

ACCOUNTABILITY:

A. The student pastor is first and foremost accountable to God.
B. The student pastor will be under the direction of the lead pastor/elder.
