Director of Youth Ministries
Job Description
Overview
The Director of Youth Ministries (DYM) will partner closely with the senior pastor and elders to advance the mission and vision of the church by leading and overseeing the ministry to students in grades 6–12. The DYM will provide leadership, teaching, discipleship and pastoral care within the student ministry while equipping volunteers and supporting parents in the spiritual formation of their students.
The DYM will help cultivate a ministry culture in which students are known, loved, grounded in God's Word, integrated into the life of the church and equipped to follow Christ faithfully. The DYM reports directly to the senior pastor.
Primary Responsibilities
Student Ministry Leadership
- Lead and oversee the church’s student ministry (grades 6–12)
- Provide primary teaching leadership within student ministry gatherings
- Develop and implement a strategy for student discipleship and spiritual growth
- Plan and coordinate youth ministry events, retreats, camps and outreach opportunities
- Equip, train and shepherd volunteer leaders and small group leaders
- Foster meaningful relationships with students and their families
- Encourage and facilitate student participation in the broader life and ministry of the church
- Provide regular communication with parents regarding ministry activities and discipleship opportunities
Qualifications
- Demonstrates a growing and vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ
- Meets the character qualifications outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1–7 and Titus 1:6–9
- Affirms and supports the church’s doctrine, mission and philosophy of ministry
- Experience serving or leading in student ministry preferred
- Possesses strong relational, organizational, and communication skills
- Maintains spiritual health through prayer, the study of Scripture and biblical fellowship

Expectations
- Attend and participate in Sunday worship gatherings
- Lead weekly student ministry gatherings
- Maintain regular office hours and availability appropriate for a part-time position
- Pursue personal growth in character, doctrine, leadership and ministry effectiveness
