Job Description
Primary preaching/teaching responsibilities:
• Preach 40-45 weeks a year
• Develop a team of preaching elders
• Create an annual preaching calendar to meet current needs of the congregation
• Approve teachers and teaching resources for men, women, adult, youth and children
Oversee spiritual leadership development through ministries providing for growth and accountability:
• (Men’s, Women’s, Small Group, Youth, Children and Assimilation):
• Deepening congregational prayer
• Create and implement a leadership development pipeline (elders, deacon, ministry leaders and future staff)
• Leading and/or participating in men’s Bible studies
• Organizing and/or overseeing men’s retreats
• Implementing a small group model
• Overseeing and approving women’s ministry activities
• Design and implement an assimilation process including membership class
• Create and implement a discipleship pathway that is strongly relational, having mutual accountability and incorporates small groups in various forms (groups, triads and one-on-one)
• Establish and maintain meaningful and regular connection with the East District of the EFCA
• Become/remain a lifetime learner to meet the needs of a changing world and growing congregation
Lead church shepherding and pastoral care efforts:
• As a committed follower and disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ he is to reflect humility and the character traits found in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1 as a model to the flock
• Provide for the wellbeing of his own family
• Pray in partnership with elders for the needs of the congregation
• Lead/resolve church conflict and implement discipline and/or restoration
• Officiate weddings and funerals, baptisms, communion
• Visit and share visitation with elders of shut-in congregants
• Perform marital and pre-marital counseling
• Counsel congregants as able and otherwise resource to competent counselors
Lead the church organizationally and administratively through:
• Oversee the worship services with the help of the Elders and worship leader.
• Developing a 3-to-5-year vision for the church and ULCS
• Developing a Strategic Implementation Plan with annual goals and aligning ministries that enacts the 3-to-5-year vision
• Oversee alongside deacons budgeting process/efforts
• Annual and other congregational meetings
• Facility Oversight/Management with Deacons, for needs and repairs
Lead the church in outreach and evangelism through:
• Equipping the congregation for evangelism
• Develop new and oversee existing outreach ministries
• Foster meaningful relationships through community leaders and clergy ministerial
• Creating seasonal opportunities for the gospel to be shared onsite (Friend Days, Easter, Christmas, Game Dinners, etc.)
• Engaging in personal evangelism
Serve with ULCS (as a board member) for:
• Developing organizational vision/partnership with CCEFC
• Holding joint church leadership and school board meetings
• Nurturing spiritual health and relational unity with CCEFC
• Encouraging student enrollment and Fundraising
• Assisting the school principal in coordinating school and church calendars
