Associate Pastor – Adult Discipleship & Preaching
Job Description
Position Overview
The Associate Pastor of Adult Discipleship and Preaching partners with the senior pastor to advance the church’s mission by leading adult spiritual formation, guiding next steps for congregational engagement, developing men’s ministry and contributing regularly to preaching. This role reflects EFCA theology, emphasizing biblical authority, gospel-centered teaching and relational discipleship within a congregational model of leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
Adult Discipleship
• Develop and oversee a comprehensive discipleship pathway for adults (from new believers to mature leaders). This will include leadership for small groups (recruit, train and coach group leaders).
Next Steps Integration
• Design and oversee clear pathways for connection and involvement aimed at first-time visitors through members.
• Track and assess engagement to ensure people are being shepherded well.
Men’s Ministry
• Provide vision and leadership for a thriving men’s ministry with the goal of equipping men to lead in their homes, workplaces and at church.
Preaching and Teaching
• Preach regularly as part of the teaching team.
Pastoral Care and Leadership
• Provide pastoral care including counseling, visitation and crisis support as needed.
• Participate in weddings, funerals and other pastoral duties.
Qualifications
• A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a life marked by spiritual maturity.
• Full agreement with the EFCA Statement of Faith.
• Bachelor’s degree required; M.Div. or equivalent preferred.
• Proven experience in adult discipleship, leadership development and teaching/preaching.
• Strong ability to organize systems and develop leaders.
• Effective communicator with strong relational skills.
• Credentialed or willing to become credentialed in the EFCA.

• Meets biblical qualifications for church leadership (1 Timothy 3; Titus 1).
• Demonstrates humility, integrity and a servant-hearted approach to ministry.
• Passionate about making disciples and equipping others for ministry.
• Team-oriented and aligned with the church’s mission and leadership.
Reporting Structure
• Reports to the senior pastor.
Work Schedule and Expectations
• Full-time position, including some evenings and weekends.
• Active engagement in church life and community.
• Commitment to ongoing personal, spiritual and professional growth

Snowy Range Evangelical Free Church is firmly committed to reaching our community for Christ and works at this through dynamic worship services, preaching centered around the word of God and relationally driven evangelism. The church has experienced significant growth in the past couple of years and is seeking an associate pastor of discipleship/small groups to assist in helping adults grow in their faith in Christ.
Located fifty miles west of the state capital of Cheyenne and two hours north of Denver, Colorado; Laramie is a town of more than 30,000 people situated at 7,200 feet above sea level on the High Plains of Wyoming.
Home to the University of Wyoming; cultural and educational opportunities abound, along with fantastic scenery and recreational pursuits. Thirty miles to the west is the Snowy Range of the Medicine Bow Mountains with peaks rising over 12,000 feet and a local ski area. Fifteen miles east is the Medicine Bow National Forest with the unique scenery of Vedauwoo and some of the best hiking, mountain biking, climbing or cross country skiing anywhere.
