Pastor of Family Discipleship
Job Description
Position Summary:
The Pastor of Family Discipleship is principally responsible for overseeing the instruction, discipleship and care of the children and youth of Grace, making resources available to aid parents in developing their children’s faith, and cultivating a culture of congregational care and investment in the spiritual well-being of our children. He will oversee appropriate church structures to guide the family of God in laboring together to disciple the next generation.
Areas of Responsibility:
The Pastor of Family Discipleship will guide, administer and oversee volunteers, programs, opportunities and structures related to Grace Church-based discipleship and instruction from cradle to college. Necessarily, he will also work closely with other adult discipleship leaders and volunteers to ensure that parents are supported in training and discipling their children and that young people have access to godly spiritual mentors. Specifically, he is responsible for:
- Children’s, Youth and Family Volunteer and Part-time Staff: recruit, equip, train and sustain qualified and capable volunteers to teach and care for our children and youth.
- Curriculum: Choose biblical curriculum in line with the vision, mission and doctrines of Grace, appropriate for various ages or levels of spiritual development, that lays a foundation for Christian character, prepares them for future spiritual growth and maturity, and provides appropriate continuity with other ministries in Grace.
- Children’s Discipleship: Ensure our children and youth (from cradle-college) receive sound spiritual instruction: in Sunday School and Junior Worship; and work alongside Elders and Staff to plan and execute activities for youth and families.
- Fellowship Activities: Responsible for mobilizing volunteers to ensure regular fellowship activities targeting youth, as well as youth and families.
- Parental Resources & Encouragement: Responsible for developing channels of resources that support and encourage parents to raise and disciple their children in the way of Christ.
- Family Relationships: Responsible for facilitating opportunities for family activity within the broader family of Grace.
- Intergenerational Discipleship: Responsible for developing mentoring and prayer-partner relationships between other godly members and our children, youth and college students.
- Teaching & Eldership: Participate in the teaching and shepherding ministry of Grace Community Church as a permanent member of the Elder Team to children, youth, students and adults.
Qualifications:
- Must be able to qualify as, and serve alongside, the Elders of Grace
- Experience preferred, but not required
- Formal biblical education, with a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree; MDiv or higher preferred
- Willing to pursue, or already obtained licensing/ordination credential with the EFCA
Compensation:
To be determined during negotiation; cash package between $50-70k, monthly Church contribution toward FCMM retirement account, three weeks paid vacation, FCMM disability insurance; no additional benefits
Reporting Relationships:
Reports directly to the Senior Pastor, under the oversight and direction of the Elder Team, serving at the pleasure of the Congregation of Grace Community Church

We're a family of believers located in Western Ohio (currently 250-300 persons) who are striving to glorify God by working to present everyone mature in Christ. We currently have a senior pastor, an associate, and are searching for a pastor who will be primarily responsible for providing pastoral care for our families and children -- cradle to college.
