Lead Pastor
Job Description
Purpose:
The lead pastor is responsible for:
- Assist the elder leadership team in overseeing the life and direction of the church
- Carrying out pastoral leadership of the congregation alongside the team of vocational and lay ministers
- Developing and leading the overall ministry vision of CEFC
- Ensuring that the systems, practices and policies of the church responsibly and effectively support its ministry activities
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
General:
- Collaborating with the leadership team to define the strategic goals necessary to carry out the vision of CEFC
- Leading and directing staff
- Ensuring that all ministries and activities align with the vision of CEFC
- Providing leadership for building and/or development projects
- Providing leadership of all preaching and teaching communication in the church
Staff Supervision and Administration:
- Supporting staff members as they continue to grow spiritually and professionally
- Hiring and dismissing staff and prioritizing staff additions after consultation and guidance from the elders
- Collaborating with the elders to implement an annual review of staff effectiveness and compensation
- Providing effective communication between ministry staff and elders
- Overseeing and ensuring that the pastoral care needs of the congregation are met
- Overseeing the development and adherence to church policies and procedures
- Providing general oversight of finances, HR responsibilities and legal responsibilities
Education & Experience
- Bachelor degree - required
- A master’s of divinity degree from a Bible school or seminary is preferred but not required
- The candidate selected must be ordained by the EFCA or be willing and able to be ordained in the EFCA
- 10 plus years of ministry
- Experience leading a staff team
