Position Overview

In keeping with 1 Timothy 3:1-7, the United Church of Crook is seeking a lead pastor who is a man of spiritual maturity that loves God and people and reflects the character of Christ in both his private and public life. We seek a man who has God-given abilities to communicate insight and meaning from God’s Word in a way that connects with the congregation and effectively leads to learning, understanding and application. We seek a man who is sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit and is passionate about encouraging and growing the church. We seek a man who desires to make Jesus Christ and the gospel known in all he does. We seek a shepherd who will lead and assist the elders in overseeing the life and direction of the church.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s of Divinity preferred
• Experience: Prefer some experience in a pastoral role with a church

Essential Duties of the Pastor

The pastor should serve God and the church by:

  1. Proclaiming the Word of God consistent with the doctrinal standards of the EFCA, and teaching, guiding and equipping all members to develop and live in full relationship with God.
  2. Providing biblical, spiritual, pastoral and visionary leadership within the framework of the church’s overall vision, mission and purpose.
  3. Shepherding the church and promoting the spiritual health, growth and well-being of the congregation through preaching, teaching, congregational care, nurturing and prayer.
  4. Providing guidance, mentorship and perspective to other leaders in the church.

Compensation & Benefits

The pastor shall receive a monthly salary commensurate to his education and experience as agreed upon by the elders and the congregation.
• Incremental annual increases will be agreed upon by the membership at the annual congregational meeting.
• The salary agreed upon would be inclusive of compensation for health coverage, retirement and housing allowance.
• The pastor will have fourteen days paid vacation each year, including two Sundays (should not be two consecutive Sundays).
• The pastor will be granted time to attend conferences or retreats to encourage personal and pastoral development.
• The pastor will be provided with a church vehicle to be used for ministry purposes.

About this Church

The United Church of Crook EFCA is located in Northeastern Colorado, approximately 30 minutes northeast of Sterling, Colorado and 40 minutes south of Sidney, Nebraska. The church serves around 150 regular attendees but reaches six communities that surround the town of Crook, Colorado. The facilities of the church are well kept and host a recently remodeled sanctuary and fellowship hall. UCC has a small rural feel of community within the church but utilizes a contemporary worship service with the inclusion of traditional hymns, prayer time and scripture reading. The ministry of UCC includes life groups, youth and adult missions and community outreach beyond our Sunday services. UCC is seeking a lead pastor to be our new shepherd and work contiguously with our elder board in promoting and growing peoples relationship with Christ.
