Job Description

The Worship Pastor is a campus staff position that exists to glorify God by helping His people grow in faith, hope, and love through the gospel of Jesus Christ.

The Worship Pastor will serve the Arlington Heights Campus in the following ways:
• Leading music in worship services that draws people to magnify the Lord (Psalm 34:3).
• Choosing songs that are biblically faithful, Christ-exalting and foster congregational singing (Colossians 3:16).
• Recruiting, developing and shepherding musicians to serve with the gifts that God has entrusted to them (Ephesians 4:11-12).
• Overseeing all aspects of planning and execution for musical components in worship services, special services and special events.
• Managing and properly utilizing available instrumentation and music library.

The Worship Pastor will be responsible for the following:
• Work under the leadership of the associate pastor to create, coordinate and execute weekly services.
• Recruit excellent musicians and vocalists to participate in worship.
• Develop strong ensembles of musicians and vocalists to serve together in worship.
• Shepherd musicians and vocalists in their walk with Christ.
• Select hymns, songs and special music to incorporate into worship.
• Offer expertise and counsel for other worship ministries in the church (e.g., Youth Group, ministry events, staff meetings, cohorts, etc.).
• Design, organize and direct concerts and other special musical events for the congregation and the community.
• Manage the worship ministry budget for the Arlington Heights Campus.
• Serve in other pastoral responsibilities as directed by the associate pastor.

Qualifications:

• Meets qualifications for pastoral leadership referenced in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1.
• High degree of musical training and literacy along with competency both instrumentally and vocally.
• Ability to direct a choir and an orchestra.
• Ability to arrange and/or compose music as needed.
• Bachelor's degree/Master’s degree preferred.
• Theologically aligned with the EFCA Statement of Faith.
• Ability to organize, analyze and execute tasks in a timely manner.
• Exercise discretion and good judgement in personal contacts.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with staff, volunteers and the congregation.
• Demonstrate professionalism through appearance, attitude and interactions with others.
• Self-motivated and able to initiate projects and work independently.
• Computer literate in order to complete necessary tasks within software applications.
• Team leader with a positive and supportive attitude.
